I’ve only gone and done it!
Born out of lockdown boredom & frustration Acid Apparel is the brainchild / last great hope / passion project of an old ex raver / clubber / DJ / Promotor who in his day was almost quite a big deal. He ran a`BIG name’ peak-time House club-night for 14 years in one of the North’s big cities, including the whole of the 90’s. Ups and downs rollercoastered their way through those years. Highs including a label release that got picked up by a major and peaked at no7 in the UK charts and getting a personal top 10 chart in Mixmag (a big deal in the 90’s). Lows included most Sundays, one of the biggest US DJ’s shitting the bed one night in a suite at Malmaison and being referred to as the Peter Stringfellow of the North (when he was still in his 20’s for pity’s sake) live on Radio 1 on a Saturday night (or maybe that was a high!)
Anyway, although he still has his calloused foot in the gaping crack of the door of hospitality with a late night bar at which he indulges in the occasional DJ set, during lock down he realised he was yearning for a side hustle in which he could involve the one constant reliable love of his life, House Music. After many failed attempts at trying to persuade Elon Musk and Pete Tong to join him in a Joint Venture to build the first nightclub on Mars, he decided to use the last £10k of his savings he had side lined for the project to launch a club culture, T-shirt, Fashion, Acid House, Techno, Lifestyle Brand and after over a year of loving toil stage 1 is finally live.
